Heartland is an Eora-based duo that formed to write songs for films.
Caleb Jacobs is an award-winning film composer, sound designer, music producer, songwriter and musician. Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Melissah Mirage, who also performs as Moody Beach, uses music as a journey of catharsis, documenting life’s experiences.
Drawing from a film’s story, emotion and imagery, Heartland’s creative impulse is intuitive yet calculated. The pair’s combined intent is to create an experience for the audience that is unforgettable.
Taste For Danger is their first single.

'Taste For Danger' features in the indie film 'The Longest Weekend'; a queer-positive debut from Sydney filmmaker pair Molly Haddon and Jorrden Daley. The track plays through a scene where Lou, the main character, hits an inner-west nightclub in Sydney to cope with some devastating news. Heartland combines elements of pop and dance to create a club banger that serves as the backdrop for Lou's escape for the evening. While the vocal delivery is sweet, the song's lyrics follow a protagonist who cannot resist pursuing actions that bear negative repercussions.
The track was born from a curious and playful chord progression on a Rhodes electric piano. Adding a Juno and Moog to the mix ensures the song has key elements for a late-night dance floor filler. Drum machines and synths create a sense of urgency depicting Lou's desire to be free of societal norms and the pigeonholes she's assigned.
Caleb Jacobs and Melissah Mirage of Heartland have contributed to the film's soundtrack in more ways than one. Jacobs wrote and produced the entire score, which will be released as 'The Longest Weekend' soundtrack. Moody Beach single 'Why Not', written and performed by Mirage, also appears in the film.
